INSECTICIDE

Insecticide, any toxic substance that is used to kill insects. Such substances are used primarily to control pests that infest cultivated plants or to eliminate disease-carrying insects in specific areas.Insecticides can be classified in any of several ways, on the basis of their chemistry, their toxicological action, or their mode of penetration.

HERBICIDE

Herbicide, an agent, usually chemical, for killing or inhibiting the growth of unwanted plants, such as residential or agricultural weeds and invasive species. A great advantage of chemical herbicides over mechanical weed control is the ease of application, which often saves on the cost of labour.

FUNGICIDE

Fungicide, also called antimycotic, any toxic substance used to kill or inhibit the growth of fungi. Fungicides are generally used to control parasitic fungi that either cause economic damage to crop or ornamental plants or endanger the health of domestic animals or humans. Most agricultural and horticultural fungicides are applied as sprays or dusts. Seed fungicides are applied as a protective covering before germination.

It is used as post emergence herbicide for the control of annual, perennial, broad leaf and grassy weeds. When applied to foliage reaches the roots and rhizomes of the plant by the process of translocation, there by destroying the weeds from below the ground. It is very effective against the weeds which are difficult to control.
MODE OF ACTION :

Selective systemic herbicide, absorbed principally through the rootsbut also through the foliage, with translocation acropetally in the xylem and accumulation in the apical meristems and leaves.
